Good features, some setup time

I tried the Shopmonkey 14-day free trial last month for my auto shop. The Digital Vehicle Inspections were a definite improvement over our old system, and the Estimating Software was pretty intuitive. Integrating with QuickBooks was smooth. The customer service team was helpful during setup, though it did take a bit more time to get everything configured than I initially expected. Overall, it's a solid platform, but be ready for a bit of a learning curve.

So happy with Shopmonkey!

I just switched my shop over to Shopmonkey after using an older system for years and I am absolutely delighted! The multi-shop management feature is exactly what I needed for my two locations. Their support team was fantastic walking me through everything. I especially love the Customer Relationship Management tools; it's made communicating with clients so much easier. I'm already seeing a difference in efficiency. I'm so glad I made the move!

Consistent performance

This was my third time renewing my Shopmonkey subscription. I've been using their platform for about three years now for appointment scheduling and invoicing, and it's consistently reliable. The Shopmonkey App works great on my tablet, which is convenient. No major issues to report, it just does what it's supposed to.

Shopmonkey is really helpful

I signed up for Shopmonkey after their free demo and it's been a game changer for my shop. The technician time tracking helps a lot and the digital work orders are so much easier. My mechanics picked it up pretty quick. It just makes things run smoother, you know? Definitely glad I went with them.

Streamlined operations, some quirks

We recently implemented Shopmonkey for our auto repair business, opting for the annual billing to get the discount. The onboarding process was straightforward, and their sales representative was very thorough in explaining the features. We primarily use the Shop Management Software, Digital Vehicle Inspections, and the integrated Payment Processing. The VIN Decoder and License Plate Lookup have saved us considerable time during check-in. Technician Time Tracking is accurate, and the Reporting and Analytics provide good insights. One minor issue we've encountered is occasional lag when switching between modules, especially during peak hours, but it's not a deal-breaker. Customer communication tools are robust, and our customers appreciate the digital updates. We chose it over Mitchell 1 because of the more modern interface.

How does parts procurement work with Shopmonkey? Is it integrated with suppliers or do I have to manually order everything still?

C Cleo K. 1 month ago
It integrates with a bunch of suppliers, which is super handy. You can usually pull parts directly into the work order and order from there. Saves a ton of time.

S Sophie Vargas 1 month ago
Yeah, it's one of their better features. You can connect to your preferred parts vendors and order straight from the system. Makes inventory management way easier too.

quickbooks integration, is it any good? or is it super clunky?

A Amber Whitfield 2 months ago
It's solid. It syncs invoices and payments pretty smoothly. I haven't had any major issues with it. Keeps my accountant happy.

Works well enough for me. Transfers sales data to QB without a hitch. Definitely cuts down on double entry.

Thinking about switching to Shopmonkey. How easy is it to get my current shop data over, like customer history and past invoices?

A Andre Beaumont 2 months ago
They have pretty good onboarding support for data migration. I had a ton of stuff in Mitchell 1 and they helped get most of it across, wasn't too painful.

L Laura Vargas 2 months ago
Yeah, I heard they have tools for that. Might depend on what system you're coming from though. Ask for a demo and push them on it.

I have two shops, both need management software. Does Shopmonkey offer any kind of deal for multiple locations?

E Emma Hughes 1 month ago
Yeah, they do multi-shop pricing. You'll have to get a custom quote from them, but it's usually cheaper per shop than paying for two separate subscriptions.

They definitely have multi-shop management capabilities. Not sure about the discount percentage but it's worth asking their sales team directly for sure.

Is there a way to get some money off the onboarding fees? Seems a bit steep to start.

R Raj Whitfield 2 months ago
Sometimes they waive the onboarding fee if you sign up for an annual plan or if they have a special promo going on. It's not always advertised, so you'd have to ask their sales rep directly.

I got mine waived by asking during the sales call. Worth a shot!

Is Shopmonkey really secure with all that customer data? Like credit card info and stuff?

P Priya Whitfield 1 month ago
They're pretty standard on security, use encrypted connections and all that. Never had an issue myself. Payment processing is usually handled by a third party too so they don't store raw card numbers.

Afaik, it's all cloud-based with industry-standard security. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Thinking about jumping on board but I'm trying to figure out the best deal. Do they ever do like, Black Friday sales or anything? Or is it just the annual discount?

B Ben V. 1 month ago
They mostly do the annual billing discount. Sometimes they'll have a seasonal thing, like around January or October, but it's usually tied to that longer commitment.

S Sophie Patel 1 month ago
Forget coupon codes. You gotta talk to sales, they'll usually offer you a better rate if you commit to a year or if it's a specific time of year when they're pushing new sign-ups.

how does shopmonkey compare to tekmetric? i'm currently with tekmetric and looking for something new.

J June M. 1 month ago
I switched from Tekmetric to Shopmonkey a couple years ago. Shopmonkey feels a bit more robust for inventory and multi-shop stuff, and their reporting is better for my needs. Tekmetric was good for basic stuff though.

S Sam Torres 1 month ago
Both are solid. Shopmonkey might have an edge on integrations and customer communication features, but it really depends on what your shop prioritizes. Definitely do the free trial for both if you can.
